You have to hand it to the economic wizards of Berlusconis government. In a bid to help tourism and the economy the minister for education, Gelmini – has proposed that the summer holidays be extended until OCtober – which means that everyone can stay at the beach and spend lots of money – or alternatively – spend vast amounts on child care, or increase production hugely by taking the kids to work for a month.Not that this will change much in Sicily, where school starts the last week of September anyway – but in these times of belt tightening, the governments way of making you focus on other things  – you have to admire.
